About Jacqueline Torres

 Born and raised in the Bronx, Jackie Torres attended Lehman High School right here in District 13. She is a proud veteran, public servant, and lifelong advocate for her community. The 11th of 13 children in a close-knit Latino and Christian household, Jackie learned the values of faith, service, and responsibility from an early age, especially from her father, Julio Torres, a veteran and dedicated community servant.

After retiring from the U.S. Army as a Major, Jackie returned to the Bronx to raise her children in the neighborhood she’s always called home. Like many veterans, she faced real challenges transitioning to civilian life. These personal struggles shaped her deep understanding of what working families and seniors face every day.

Jackie went on to serve in key HR roles with the NYC Department of Social Services and the federal government, helping working families access the support they need. Her leadership, both at home and abroad- includes deployments to Bosnia and Iraq, where she managed complex operations in high-pressure environments. A champion for veterans, working families, and seniors, Jackie knows how to get things done and she’s running to bring common-sense leadership to City Hall. She’s committed to strengthening public safety, protecting Social Security and Medicare, and expanding access to services for those who need it most.

Jackie’s family legacy of service continues through her children, one an Air Force pilot, the other a nurse. As a proud veteran and Bronx native, Jackie is ready to serve again, this time- for you.
